Surviving the Apocalypse 101 – The Event – Part 5

Surviving the Apocalypse 101 – The Event – Part 5

A realistic discussion of the realities of surviving an apocalyptic event.

We are assuming the “Event” to be a massive solar flare EMP that wipes out the world electric grid.

Let’s look at the cities again. What will happen if the majority of people are left alive after the Event? What will they do after the few days worth of food runs out and there’s little, if no, flow of information? I’m talking about the good people, the non-psychopath ones. The latest research that I’ve found states that between 1 in 25 to 1 in 200 are true psychopaths. In Huntington, WV, where Book 1 takes place, with a population of 49,138, that would be between 245 and 1,966 people who are true psychopaths.

Psychopathy, sometimes considered synonymous with sociopathy, is traditionally defined as a personality disorder[1] characterized by persistent antisocial behavior, impaired empathy and remorse, and bold, disinhibited, egotistical traits. Different conceptions of psychopathy have been used throughout history. These conceptions are only partly overlapping and may sometimes be contradictory.

What about the people that are skating on that thin blue line? I mean the ones that are law-abiding only because they fear the repercussions of their actions? Remove those repercussions and how many of them do you think will remain kind caring human beings?
